Text Messaging From a Mobile Phone

Text messaging is one of the best features offered by the modern mobile phones. A text message, usually called an SMS (small messaging service), is used to send small message from one mobile phone to other. By using this service, one can send and receive text messages to and from other people all around the world. Text message is usually a lot cheaper than a call but it delivers the message of the sender. There are times when one prefers to send a text message rather than calling to deliver the message. Text messaging is the most easy, convenient and cost effective way to communicate with others using a mobile phone. One can write a sms using the keypad of his mobile phone and send it by entering the recipient’s number in the mobile phone. When a sms is received, the mobile phone alerts the user either by ringing some bell or by vibrating or both. The process of sending and receiving sms is very simple. A sms is received instantly after it is sent, which is very convenient.

Sending a Text Message

Sending a text message is quite a simple thing to do, though it can be a little bit tricky for the beginners because of the keypad of the mobile phones. To write a text message, you will have to follow a few steps which are as follows:

•First of all you need to press the menu button of your mobile phone which is present in approximately all the modern mobile phones.

•In the main menu, you will have to scroll and find the sub-menu of messaging.

•Under the messaging menu, write message is usually the first option. Choose that option.

•Another menu will be shown next in which you will have to choose the message type of your message. Usually there are three options: Text Message, Multimedia Message and Email Message. Choose the first option: Text Message.

•Now a blank place will be shown with a cursor blinking in the top left corner of it. You can write your message in that blank field with the help of your mobile phone’s keypad. English letters are printed on the keypad to write the text messages along with the numerical digits.

•Since the number of the keys on a cell phone’s keypad is less than the total characters in English language, more than one letter are printed on each key. Therefore you may have to press a key more than once to enter a desired character in your messaging field. For example, if you want to enter ‘c’, you will have to press the ‘2’ key three times.

•When you are done composing your message press send message, you’ll be prompted to enter the recipient’s phone number. Enter the number and press send.

•Your message is sent.

Receiving a Text Message

Receiving a text message (SMS) is even simpler than sending one. When a message is received in your mobile device, it alerts you by setting out a beep or tone. All you have to do after that is to hit the read button to read that message. The message contains the name or number of the sender and the original message received. Additional details like time and date of receipt of message can also be viewed by selecting details in the message menu.
